Jan Exnar

The works of Jan Exnar, born in 1951, maintain a quiet intensity while emphasizing form and color. His compact works contain in their silence the monumental character of some sort of mysterious signs. They are inspired in part by cosmic spaces, whose infiniteness is enclosed within a glass form with a myriad of internal bubbles. There is a constant tension between proximity and distance, simplicity and complexity. In recent years, Exnar’s work has moved increasingly toward a position of expressive, symbolic figuration.
